After a Death
England · for the family and next of kin
Tick each item as you go — finished sections gently fade and tuck away, and the bar at the top keeps your score. Your progress is saved automatically on this device. Links checked June 2026; items tagged confirm couldn't be fully verified — check before relying on them.
Two roles in this plan
You & your sibling (family / next of kin): register the death, arrange the funeral, run the one-step notification services, and handle lower-stakes accounts (utilities, subscriptions, GP, etc.).
The executor (named in the will — someone else): has the legal authority over the estate — banks, probate, valuing the estate, paying debts and distributing it. Share information with them and coordinate, but don't fire off bank or estate instructions independently, or you'll cut across the formal process.
That's everything on the list.
You've worked through all of it. Be gentle with yourself — and the support in Section G is there whenever you want it.
